Phoenix Travel Club in Dallas Scam

Jul 21, 2008 Phoenix Vacations is Castaways Vacations complaint |

I responded to an advertisement for Phoenix Travel Club for a visit at the Galery in Dallas. Their presentation seemed very good and the savings appeared to be worth the investment. I paid the money and later determined that the savings were not significant on the Phoenix website. I requested via certified mail that they refund my money but Phoenix kept the 15% and the 299 fee. So I am out 600 dollars. I am in the process of filing letters with the Attorneys General of Texas and Indiana. I would be interested in a class action suit if that is being created.

I bought in to it and now I am out over $900.00. They are scam artist. They promis you trips like $650.00 round trip including air and hotel to London and say they can book it that night for the price. I used to work for an Airline so I wanted the benfits of travel for cheap prices and thought it would be great. After we got the price down from 8000.00 to 4000.00 including processing and annual dues we bought it from Royal Palm Travel who sells it through SeaLand Travel. They do give you 3 days to get your money back however they charge you a 15% restocking fee and 399.00 for processing. What are they restocking? On the way home I came to my sences and thought this is to good to be true. I found a trip on travelocity and had them quote me the same trip the next day. What I found was cheaper than what they could book it for. They do not save you any money. They also promis you a password to get on a website to see prices and book travel for less, however you don't get this for seven days. This would ensure that your three days to get your money (part of your money) back has passed. They are scam artist in my eyes. I have filed a complaint with the BBB. I have also found on other sites that there are other like us and are looking to file a class action lawsuite. I would like to get in on that if there is one going on. They are giving false information and you are not getting what you are promised.

We foolishly fell for this proposed "good for tonight only" program offered by Royal Palm Travel in Dallas...sounded good, but we should have known there is no good "tonight only" offer. Getting home and checking them out online, we were shocked to see all of the complaints registered with this company. We immediately opted to cancel the contract within the allowable 3 days. Within two weeks, we were refunded our maney except for over $1300 in a "restocking fee" for a small briefcase they provided and a $399 "processing fee" for joining the program. We saw this in the contract, but trusted that the program was going to be worthwhile - foolish us!! Also agree that the gifts are basically useless in value for the same reasons others have cited here. Beware of this operation.....I don't know if there is any value in the program itself, but if their up front scamming is any indication...I totally doubt it! I am interested in a class action suit with the State to recover these bogus fees they kept, so contact me to participate.

Phoenix travel club, office in the Galleria, Dallas, Texas is a major rip off. Like the saying -- if it is too good to be true -- it is not good! Beware of Phoenix Travel and World Wide Travel. As soon as they get your money, you will find it impossible to take one of their promised trips. Getting your money back will be impossible.

They are in Dallas in One Galleria Tower, Ste. 1850. They go by Royal Palms Travel and Castaways Vacation Club is replaced now with SeaLand Travel Club. I was taken for $6593 but if they honor my cancellation request I am sure I will still be out $1300 for their so called "restocking fee" and "processing fee". Please post comments on any class action suit when it gets started for these guys and I am there! BTW, Adrian Miller is listed as the director for both Phoenix Vacations and Royal Palms Travel.

We were called 6 times by Bon Voyage Travel Service, 7000 N. Mopac Suite 200, Austin, Texas 78731. The first 5 times, we asked that we be taken off their call list. (We are registered with the Do Not Call registry.) Yesterday, Aug 2, 2008, they called again and my wife strung them along in order to gain information. The callers name was John Gomez. Upon having arranged a meeting at their office, he said we would get a call providing a confirmation number. He persisted in wanting our home address, which we refused. Later, a Vanessa Gomez called furnishing a number. She said her phone number was 210-249-0590. After viewing many complaint postings on the web, we lodged a violation with the Do Not Call registry. I have printed out the Texas Attorney General's complaint form and intend to file it noting the suspicious nature of these calls.

I also fell prey to their compelling presentation. There are four names that I can track back -- Phoenix Vacations, Bon Voyage, Royal Palm Travel and SeaLand Travel. There are lots of posts out there, but because the company changes names, they are difficult to track. Several have mentioned class action, I just think we have to do everything possible to keep other people out of their offices. They are scamming people out of millions of dollars.
